The Sufi Psychology of M.T.O.Shahmaghsoudi® is the Science of the Soul. It is a method of training enabling one to come to know the innermost self, and through self-knowledge, to knowledge of and ultimately, union with, the Divine Beloved, God. Sufi Psychology teaches us how to move beyond our habitual behaviors and the noise of our endlessly chattering brain to reunite with our own essence, with the truth of our own being, and with the truth of Existence. Sufi Psychology is a way to attain peace, harmony, balance and unity within our own selves, and ultimately, peace and unity within our family, community and all of existence. MTO Sufi Psychology® is the application of the principles of Sufism to life. It is called the Way of Love

What is MTO Sufi Psychotherapy®?
M.T.O. Sufi Psychotherapy® is a means of Healing the Soul. Rather than concentrating on the material realm, Sufi Psychotherapy focuses on the spiritual realm. Sufi Psychotherapy focuses on rekindling the spiritual flame within each human heart, enabling all the positive attributes that lie within to emerge and expand. Love, hope, joy, creativity, wisdom, kindness, patience, knowledge, generosity, harmony, unity and peace lie within each of us. Sufi Psychotherapy utilizes the Sufi methods of training taught by Molana Hazrat Salaheddin Ali Nader Angha, master of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi, School of Islamic Sufism®, to enable us to access our own most positive elements, allowing the healing of the heart and soul.

What is the Sufi Psychology Association?
The Sufi Psychology Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c) 3 organization. There is no paid staff; the organization is run entirely by volunteers. It was officially founded in 1997 by a small group of MTO Shahmaghsoudi® students employed in the helping professions who had personally benefited from the teachings of Hazrat Pir and wished to share what they had learned with others.
The basic purpose of the Sufi Psychology Association is educational. We wish to share the expansive body of developmental knowledge and techniques taught by Hazrat Salaheddin Ali Nader Angha, Pir Oveyssi, so that all who sincerely seek knowledge may become loving, creative, fully-functioning human beings who are at peace with themselves and with Existence.

Who are the members?
Sufi Psychology Association membership is open to everyone who is interested and wishes to grow. The reality of Sufism transcends concepts of culture, politics, economics, and geography. People of varied occupations, ages, ethnicities, and religious backgrounds, including a number of students, enjoy membership.
What does the Sufi Psychology Association do?
- The SPA holds conferences at various universities each year, in which researchers share useful research and theoretical information and practices.
- The SPA provides the educational portion for quarterly retreats.
- The SPA provides credit for Tamarkoz® classes and workshops.
- The SPA publishes a semi-annual journal.
- The SPA hosts the annual Molana-al-Moazam Hazrat Shahmaghsoud Sadegh Angha Memorial Essay contest.
