Memorial Prize for a Research Paper
A prize of $1,000 will be given for the highest quality research paper on the Sufi Psychology of the Masters of Maktab Tarighat Oveyssi Shahmaghsoudi, School of Islamic Sufism®. Applicants are encouraged to read past editions of the Sufi Psychology Association journal, Sufism: Science of the Soul, to see examples of the types of work which are appropriate.
Guidelines
Student Eligibility
Student applicants must be 30 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2012. In other words, they must have been born after January 1, 1982.
Student applicants must be enrolled in the 12th grade or be part or full-time students in a college or university in Spring, 2012.
Student applicants may be citizens of any country, and may be living in any country.
Entry Deadline and Format
The deadline for entry is 11:59 am PDT, July 15, 2011. Entries must be submitted in electronic form to .
Required Paper Length
Required Length: 1,500 to 5,000 words. Length will be calculated for papers using the Word Count feature in Microsoft Word. The bibliography will not count.
Style Guidelines
- Papers must be in English.
- Papers must be in the form of an attached .doc file.
- Submissions should use Arial or Times fonts, size 12.
- Only the cover page of the paper shall display the name of the author.
- Papers must be original works written by the submitter and must not have been previously published anywhere else. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
- Papers must use American Psychological Association (APA) style.
- Papers will be judged based on style and content. Judges will look for writing that is interesting, accurate, logically organized, clear, and which articulates accurately the teachings pertaining to psychology of the masters of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi, School of Islamic Sufism® .
- Papers must have a cover page containing the following information:
Title, Full Name of Author, Date of Birth
Phone Number, Email Address,
Street Address with City, State or Province, Zip or Postal Code, and Country
University or College Name & Address,
Major Faculty Advisor’s Name and Phone
Procedure
Each paper will be read and ranked independently by three journal editors. All identifying information is removed from the papers so that they are judged blindly. After each editor has ranked the papers, the rankings will be averaged and the paper with the highest average ranking will be declared the winner.
Winner
The Winner will be announced in September, 2012. Submitted papers become the property of the Sufi Psychology Association. The winning paper will be published in the journal, Sufism: Science of the Soul.
